Founded in 1862 by Dupré Barbancourt, the Haiti Distillery — Société du Rhum Barbancourt — produces the renowned Rhum Barbancourt using fresh sugar-cane juice and a double-distillation method inspired by French Cognac making. The family-owned distillery ages its rums in French oak barrels at its estate in the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac.
