Footprint
Wines (South Africa) |
The
name symbolizes the drive to lead and explore, rather than follow.
The brand combines the unique attributes of some of the best South
African appellations in a range of wines, each variety with an area-specific
footprint - and showing the personal imprint of winemaker Mike Graham,
who journeyed through the Cape vineyards in search of grapes with
the character he sought for Footprint wines. The single-varietal
wines are stylish, contemporary, and focus on varietal character.
The range comprises of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and
Cabernet Sauvignon. The Grapes for each of the varietals are from
site-specific vineyards in the prime wine-growing areas of Stellenbosch,
Swartland and Worcester. Selected vineyards are nurtured to optimum
ripeness and the grapes from each vineyard are handled separately
in the cellar. Winemaker Mike Graham uses a combination of modern
and classical methods to ensure that the wine expresses both varietal
and area-specific character. The subtle use of oak adds complexity
and style to the wines without masking the varietal fruit.
